What is post-tensioning?

Post-tensioning is a construction technique that involves placing high-strength steel cables, better known as tendons, within a concrete slab or structure and then applying tension to them after the concrete has been poured and cured. The resulting compression in the concrete strengthens it and allows for longer spans without the need for additional support.

Jack Pou

Jack, the visionary behind JR Construction Solutions and Post Tension of Louisiana (PTLA), has had an impressive 27-year journey in the construction industry. Grounded in a customer-first mindset, Jack has cultivated thriving businesses.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in business and construction management from Louisiana State University, Jack swiftly ascended the corporate ranks at Level Homes, eventually attaining the role of Director of Construction. During this tenure, he honed his skills and garnered profound insights into the intricacies of construction processes and effective people management.

In 2013, Jack embarked on a new venture, founding JR Construction Solutions, a company specializing in foundations, framing, and flatwork. Operating within a regional footprint, JR Construction collaborates with home builders and multi-family developers across South Louisiana. Jack’s commitment to excellence was further highlighted when he recognized a demand for a reliable local post-tension service company during his interactions with JR Construction customers.

Jack and his partner, Joe Myhand then established Post Tension of Louisiana (PTLA) in December of 2023. With PTLA, Jack and his team bring forth specialized post-tensioning services that elevate construction projects’ structural integrity and durability. Through the incorporation of cutting-edge post-tensioning techniques, PTLA pioneers innovative solutions that optimize the performance and longevity of concrete structures, solidifying Jack’s reputation as a leader in the construction industry.

Joseph A. Myhand

At a young age, Joseph Myhand realized his love for construction and development thru his grandfather, J. Albert Guilbeau. His grandfather was the founder of Cenac Inc., which is a land development and management company. Joseph currently sits on the Board of Directors for Cenac Inc., in honor of his late Grandfather.

In 2013, Joseph entered the post-tension foundation industry. He soon became known by his customers as a mind of reason, combining the technical side of post tension slabs with a logical explanation, that anyone could understand. In 2017, he became certified by the Post Tension Institute, which rules as the governing body of the industry. Through the Post Tension Institute, he has made many connections nationwide. In August of 2023, Joe opened SlabWorx, LLC. which is a concrete construction company, licensed to serve the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas then in September of 2023, Joseph and a group of long-time business associates, joined together to open Post Tension of Louisiana. This team, as of September 2023, has a combined fifty-plus years of experience in Concrete Construction and shares the same beliefs; provide a superior product with superior customer service.

Throughout his career, Joseph has worked on and completed numerous types of projects in the concrete field such as grocery stores, apartment complexes, warehouses, and truck yards. He has helped clients achieve economic efficiency through engineering practice while maintaining the quality he has built his reputation. 

Alex Derousselle

Diverse experiences and notable achievements have characterized Alex Derousselle’s journey in the construction industry. During his time obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Southeastern Louisiana University he began engaging in industrial and commercial projects during internships venturing into residential construction and business, Alex’s professional path has undergone significant evolution.

Throughout his career, Alex has consistently showcased proficiency in leadership, persistence, and goal-oriented approaches. The gratification of guiding junior teams and associates to success within the organization and in their careers has been a central aspect of Alex’s professional endeavors. 

Residential construction holds a special place in Alex’s heart, fueled by the challenges it presents. Thriving in the fast-paced, quick-thinking environment, Alex derives joy from resolving daily issues and witnessing plans come together, whether for a one-day or one-year project. The satisfaction of gaining new clients, conquering challenges, and observing happy clients fuels Alex’s professional passion. The pursuit of achieving goals and overcoming obstacles, both in the professional and personal spheres, is what keeps Alex energized and motivated.

Connor Clouatre

Connor initiated his journey in the construction field by working as an electrician’s assistant in South Louisiana throughout his high school years. Driven by a vision to contribute to the development and infrastructure of Louisiana, he pursued a degree in Civil Engineering at LSU. Following graduation, Connor ventured into the engineering realm at Arcadis, focusing on heavy civil design projects nationwide. While he found fulfillment and valuable experiences in this role, Connor leaped into concrete construction in 2021.

Navigating the unique soil conditions of Louisiana led him to specialize in post-tension foundation construction. Leveraging his engineering background, Connor recognized the strength and often cost efficiency of a post-tension system. Connor has successfully overseen a diverse array of projects, ranging from commercial apartment complexes to single-family homes.

After honing his skills and cultivating connections across the state, Connor joined forces with leaders in the post-tension industry, culminating in the establishment of Post Tension of Louisiana in late 2023.
